The amount of empty office accommodation within Auckland's CBD has fallen for the fifth consecutive year, reflecting the city's strong economic performance.

Vacancy levels has reduced to 10.6%, with economic recovery fuelling new business formation, expansion and relocation. Britomart precinct is fully occupied and elsewhere premium and A grade spaces are almost non-existent, with only small areas on part floors being available.

This vacancy rate is the lowest level since early 2009, just before the global financial crisis' had taken full effect.

Ian Little, manager of Bayleys Research says given the strong performance of the Auckland economy, the pressure on available space will continue.
